About - Grid IP

The Greening Transportation Infrastructure Development (GRID) integrated program advances the global transition toward transportation infrastructure that safeguards, conserves, and restores key coastal, marine, and terrestrial ecosystems.

Our Story

Around the world, transportation infrastructure connects people and drives economies. When biodiversity is integrated from the start, both people and nature can thrive.

GRID’s work is guided by a simple theory of change: when the right policies, planning tools, and financial mechanisms are in place, countries can develop transportation systems that enhance ecosystems while strengthening communities.

GRID brings together a digital knowledge platform, global and national projects, and a growing network of partners and practitioners to improve early planning, encourage nature-positive design, reduce investment risk, and connect global knowledge with on-the-ground action.

Working with governments, engineers, planners, financiers, and other stakeholders, GRID aims to help shape a future where transportation infrastructure enables people and nature to thrive—integrating biodiversity into every phase of the infrastructure life cycle, from early policy decisions through implementation.

GEF

The Global Environment Facility (GEF) is a family of funds dedicated to confronting biodiversity loss, climate change, pollution, and strains on land and ocean health. Its grants, blended financing, and policy support helps developing countries address their biggest environmental priorities and adhere to international environmental conventions. Over the past three decades, the GEF has provided more than $23 billion and mobilized $129 billion in co-financing for more than 5,000 national and regional projects.
